Favorite part of my office — full length mirrors! I used to force my boyfriend to be my photographer in college, but he’s been demoted (with good reason). Those days are behind me, I’m a professional now! And although I work in a causal atmosphere, dressing up for work gives me motivation for when I have to sit at a desk and burn my eyes with a computer screen all day (oh ya, it’s great). So if anyone feels my pain, you’ll go to Kmart and buy a pair of athletic shoes. DO IT!

As I got on the bus to take my last final exam at Iowa State this afternoon, I couldn’t help but feel exhilarated by the glares I received for my stand-out reflective shades and faux bob. “Who does this bitch think she is??” is what crossed the mind of every Iowan I passed… or at least I would expect. I’ll admit, Iowa isn’t exactly the ideal place to experiment with your style without constantly receiving judgment, which is why I am so excited to be graduating on Friday and moving back to Chicago on Saturday. Although I will sincerely miss the campanile’s ring every quarter hour, late night quesadilla man on Welch, and getting dressed up for chapter every Monday, I can definitely do without being hated on by Minnesotans for being a Chicago sports fan (let’s go Bhawks!!). These past four years have been a wild ride and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I’ve learned so much about myself and others, and this “bitch” made it to Magna Cum Laude. So any Iowans who have judged my appearance can suck it because I DO know what I’m doing, and I have the Bachelor’s of Science to prove it!

This week marks the 31st annual Iowa State University Fashion Show! And what other way to celebrate than with a week full of activities, treats, and fashion! I chose to style one of my Fashion Show t-shirts with a punch; lots of bling, a sleek bomber, and my sweet Jeffery Campbell cutouts. I can’t seem to get enough of these leather buckled cutout boots, but I definitely can’t wait to get my hands on a pair of this spring’s it-shoe: mules! You can bet there will be an excess of outfits styled with those as well ;]

March 11, 2014. What a terribly dull and dreary day for Ames, Iowa. My solution, of course, is to throw on the brightest pants I own and create a cool twist for layering the modern cropped t-shirt. All I can hope is that spring break in Panama City offers better news in terms of weather than the Midwest… (3 days!!)

This weekend Nick and I ventured back home to Chicago for what we planned to be an  exciting break from Ames, but the excitement began before we had even gotten there. While making the drive home Thursday night my car decided to break down in Middle Earth, Iowa where we had to wait 3 hours for a tow truck in 15 degree weather with a dead battery. We were lucky that my best friend allowed us to crash at her apartment in Iowa City for the night so we could finish the drive with a rental the drive in the morning. Thankfully, we made it the rest of the way safely and I was even able to make it to my three interviews! God was on my side for this round.

What’s a Wednesday in Ames without a little wind and 15 degree weather? Sounds more like everyday in Ames in the winter. But what’s a better way to cure the chilly blues than throwing on a blazer and layering up with a chic wool coat? Probably some socks…

Casual post-class photo shoot. Thank you Nick for being my make-shift photographer, I repaid him by giving him a ride to his class which he was 20 minutes early for. Punctuality is key!
